I originally bought the camera in the .uk, so I just assumed that Canon ZA would give me a hard time about honouring the warranty. I am glad to say that I was pleasantly surprised by their willingness to help. They repaired the camera for no charge and gave it a nice service aswell ! Oh yes before I forget, for the techies out there: the problem was that there was a bright overexposed arc on the pictures. You can view a sample here [link] and here [link]
The arc seemed more bright in shots taken at high shutter speeds. Ok, well when I went to fetch my camera from Canon, the techie showed me the shutter blade that was replaced. There was a nice hole burnt into the curtain!!! It sorta makes sense now afterwards. Remeber those ants you burned as a kid with a magnifying glass, yes, the lens has that same effect on the shutter plane and sensor, so be carefull when you are outside, and never leave the lenscap off for extended periods of time.
I might post a picture of the shutter with the hole in later if ppl are interested.
